Responsible for information management of the Arboretum's living collections and maintenance of the plant database.

Duties and Responsibilities
*Responsible for coding, entering and updating all plant records in the collections database to include new accessions, plant moves, dead plants, name changes and loans/exchanges.
*Conduct inventories of existing plants throughout the Arboretum every two years.
*Generate quarterly reports for new accessions, plant moves and plant deaths for review by Collections Committee. Produce other reports as requested by horticulture specialists and Director of Horticulture.
*Create new accession/move/dead sheets to be completed by staff responsible for accessioned collections. Follow up with staff to verify they are completing forms monthly.
*Map new exhibits, gardens and individual plants after they are accessioned and planted, or removed.
*Create identification labels and accession tags as plants are acquired and planted.
*Systematically replace old accession tags with new accessions labels throughout the Arboretum.
*Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Horticulture or Executive Director.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Horticulture or related field AND one year of horticultural experience; OR, five years of horticulture experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Additional Minimum Qualifications
*Basic botany or horticulture background.
*One year experience working with computer data bases.
*Strong computer skills, knowledge of BG-Base and BG-Map a plus.
*Must have some botanical knowledge.
*Must be detail oriented.
*Able to communicate effectively.
*Able to work outside in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
*Willing to work weekends and holidays.
