Apricot Lane Farms is hiring a full-time 5½ day/week position M-F (7AM – 5PM) and Saturday (7AM – 12PM). This person is responsible for the care of 100+ acres of Biodynamic and Organic fruit orchards, including lemons, avocados, nectarines, cherries, peaches, plums, apples, apricots, mandarins, grapefruit, oranges and more. This person will farm using the principles of Biodynamics and would preferably come with a thorough understanding of those principles. However, we will consider folks with a thorough understanding of sustainability and organic management, allowing us to train only the Biodynamic principles. This person will also coordinate the planting and harvest of the Apricot Lane Farms hay fields. This person sets the irrigation schedules and Compost Tea application schedules, referring to the PureSense irrigation monitors to do so. This person heads up frost control in the winter months, using the weather station on our PureSense Monitoring System. Working alongside our Pest Control Advisor, this person monitors and performs pest control applications on all trees. This person facilitates bi-annual soil and tissue samples and determines the orchard fertility needs and executes those needs. Must have proficient leadership, organizational and tractor operating skills. Must be able to drive a forklift. Must be able to train and motivate a team. This person will directly oversee the Compost Coordinator, Fruit Orchard Coordinator and several Field Workers. On-property single-family housing may be available.
